It has been a fantastic year for W Insight, with several incredible role models featured on our platform. The content we produced attracted readers from all over the world, with most from the US, Poland, the UK, South Africa, and Canada.
Several interviews were particularly popular among our readers. And I’m proud to share the list of the four most popular reads on our platform.
1. Elisa Gonzalez
I’m not surprised this honest conversation with Elisa, whose work appeared in top literary and journalism titles, is opening this year’s list of the most-read pieces. Elisa has just published her debut poetry book, “Grand Tour.” During an interview with W Insight, Elisa discussed what being a poet nowadays entails, her relationship with money, and her creative process. Check out the full interview below!
2. Zuzanna Szadkowski
The second most-read interview this year, this conversation with one of Gossip Girl’s leading actresses, is definitely one of my personal favorites. Apart from appearing in numerous popular productions, including “Modern Love,” “Girls” and “The Good Wife,” Zuzanna was part of acclaimed drama plays, such as Delia and Nora Ephron’s “Love, Loss and what I wore,” as well as “Uncle Romeo Vanya Juliet,” for which she was awarded a “Wall Street Journal Performance of the Year” distinction in 2018. In an interview with W Insight, Zuzanna takes us back to the beginnings of her professional acting life, shares insights into maintaining a long-term career (beyond Gossip Girl), discusses challenges she faced in the industry, and explains why the “9 to 5 job” wasn’t the right fit.
3. Stacey Abrams
I particularly enjoyed this conversation with Stacey Abrams, a high-profile American politician, writer, and activist. I interviewed Stacey in Kigali, Rwanda, during the Women Deliver conference – one of the largest gender equality conferences in the world. I’m so happy I could be a part of that event, and I shared some of my experiences in this YouTube video, one of my most fun memories from 2023.
Stacey Abrams’ words truly spoke to me. She said: “You are more than the things you try. Often, we focus on the jobs we ask for or the titles we seek or the status we seek. That’s only a part of who you are. There are people that you know and love who love you, who don’t care. You shouldn’t care either. You should want, but it shouldn’t define you so much that if you don’t get it, you are completely decimated.” I remind myself about that when I think about 2023, which has been truly transformative for me; I worked on multiple long-term projects on three continents, and I hope one day I’ll be able to share the outcome with you. But I’m also aware these will not be realized overnight, and some of the ambitious projects could see the light later than I assumed. And that’s okay, too!
4. Magda Wierzycka
It’s already a tradition! This conversation with a finance role model, Magda Wierzycka, has been on our list of the most popular interviews every year since 2020 when it was first published. Active in the investment world, Wierzycka is believed to be one of the wealthiest women in South Africa (according to numerous press reports). For W Insight, she discussed the breakthrough moments in her career and shared her advice for women who want to have a perfect work-life balance. Read the interview below, and you may be surprised!
